CEO
Philip Goforth
Philip, the visionary President and CEO of Genesis Construction, established the company in 2009. As a second-generation builder, he has skillfully carried forward his father's legacy in the construction industry. With over 28 years of experience in construction and real estate, Philip has successfully completed over 100 hotels, retail, and commercial projects across various asset types. Holding a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from Kansas State University, he began his career as a project manager before founding his own company. His leadership, marked by strategic vision and profound industry knowledge, has solidified Genesis Construction's position as a leader in hospitality and commercial construction. Philip's approach to real estate development and acquisition is both aggressive and innovative, yet grounded in time-tested principles.
Beyond his professional achievements, Philip has extensive experience in professional development and human resources, excelling in hiring, interviewing, and positioning professionals for maximum impact. He has also been involved in various levels of development for hotels, shopping centers, and apartment communities. In addition to his construction expertise, Philip co-owned a boutique financial services business, gaining valuable insights into alternative investment classes and the independent broker-dealer community. Personally, he is passionate about government, philanthropy, and social issues affecting our culture and environment. Residing in Kansas City with his wife and two children,

Omid Shahbazian
Omid Shahbazian is a principal and key member of Genesis Companies, serving as Executive Vice President. With over 24 years of experience in development and construction management, Omid combines a deep understanding of construction processes with a unique perspective as an owner. His expertise spans various types of construction, including high-rise concrete structures internationally, making him a versatile and knowledgeable leader. At Genesis, he is responsible for the overall project direction and execution of mixed-use apartment complexes, hotel/hospitality projects, and other commercial constructions, ensuring consistency with the company's strategy and commitment to quality. Omid takes pride in quality control and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle, and his leadership is marked by impactful results in the commercial construction industry.
A pragmatic planner focused on customer needs, Omid has developed a unique construction management system that incorporates the latest technology to ensure efficiency and quality in every project. His approach consistently elevates Genesis Companies' presence in every community they build in. Holding a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a master's degree in Construction Engineering & Management from the University of Kansas, Omid brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Genesis. His dedication to excellence and strategic vision have significantly contributed to the company's success and reputation in the industry.

Todd Kobayashi
Todd has joined Genesis Companies as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing over 15 years of experience in financing and developing various real estate asset types. He is perfectly suited to manage the company's corporate cash flow between connected business units while optimizing their profitability. Todd's extensive asset management experience makes him an ideal professional for overseeing investor capital and ensuring its growth.
Before joining Genesis, Todd served as CFO at Foutch Architecture & Development in Kansas City, a leading firm in the redevelopment of historic buildings. His responsibilities included Finance, Accounting, Tax, Insurance, Risk Management, and IT functions. He played a key role in strategic planning and was instrumental in shaping opportunities in the student housing and senior living sectors. Prior to his tenure at Foutch, Todd held several vice president roles at Great Plains Energy/KCP&L for nine years. He graduated Cum Laude from Miami University in Oxford, OH, with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree, attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Todd's strategic vision and financial expertise are crucial assets to Genesis Companies.

Joe has spent over 25 years fostering relationships nationwide in the commercial real estate industry. He has overseen the underwriting and origination of loans worth over $1 billion for various real estate projects, including land, development, construction, bridge, mini-perm, and permanent financing. These projects comprise residential, multifamily, assisted living/memory care, office, retail, industrial, self-storage, and hotel properties. Additionally, he has helped raise investor capital for several real estate developments.

General Counsel
Stuart Bodker is a seasoned real estate attorney with more than 30 years of transactional and development experience. His background spans acquisitions, dispositions, land use, financing, and complex commercial contracts. He’s represented developers, owners, lenders, and operators across multiple asset classes, which gives him a balanced, risk-focused perspective that our team relies on.

Controller / CPA

​Tom Hankook is a seasoned CPA with deep experience in real estate accounting, tax strategy, and financial reporting. He provides clean, accurate analyses and ensures our projects and entities stay compliant, transparent, and investor-ready.

Development Manager

Paula O’Rear is our Development Manager, overseeing entitlement coordination, lender draw management, and day-to-day project execution. She keeps schedules, approvals, and documentation moving cleanly, reducing risk and keeping our developments on track.

He brings extensive experience in hospitality construction, managing multiple projects across different regions efficiently.
